Dungeon World game set in a world where monster cuisine is creating a
huge subculture. Every year, the fat and wealthy king holds a cooking
tournament with some odd rules and amazing rewards:
-the tournament takes place inside Zelgig’s Cabinet, the colossal food cupboard of some
forgotten god or wizard where everything has become huge and deadly.
Deserts of scalding pizza, oceans of soup with giant, hungry tuna fish,
and honey bears made of actual honey.
-members can enter as parties or teams of chefs, warriors, sauciers, waiters and the like
-the best dish matching the king’s requested themes is the winner
-all cooking has to be done with whatever you can obtain or kill for yourself
-once you’re inside, anything between the parties is fair game
so when a monster hunter (Alex), a fire mage (Sean), and their replaceable minion of an
appliance (Eli) enter Zelgig’s Cabinet, they’ll have to survive long enough to
make a tasty dish. Sort of Toriko meets Cloudy With A Chance of
Meatballs

This session reminds me of what I loved about the DnU Road Trip games: Sean and Alex character shenanigans.
(After they have gone through the trouble to lead the battered and broken Spiceclops to the Meatataur’s lair to fight, knowing full well the plan was to have them kill each other.)
Alex: I dunno how I feel about this anymore.
Greg: What? You want him to be your friend now?
Alex: Can we?
Sean: Charfiend puts a hand onto Blayd’s chest as the monsters fight. “No, let them fight.”
Alex: I dunno about this anymore…
(Just that crazy, gonzo plan of player sparked violence that’s started and then realizing this may have been a bad idea, but they’re too deep into it.)
Love it.
